“Wonderful service, fantastic food…”
“My first visit to the Windjammer last week was a most enjoyable one. I travel A LOT and have had great (and not so great) experiences. This place, with it’s comfortable atmosphere, was exceptional. To begin, my server was quite affable, and seemed to really know his stuff, making solid recommendations all around, such as the prime rib, medium rare (and it WAS medium rare) with delicious scallops. And to drink? What else? A local micro brew. Thanks for the suggestion Kevin! “One of the best meals I’ve ever had…”
“This has to be one of the best meals I’ve ever had for the price I paid for it. I had the French Onion Soup and Shephard’s Pie. My boyfriend had the Petite Sirloin and the petite Creme Brulee dessert. Everything we had was fantastic, unbelievably inexpensive, and well-portioned. The Shephard’s Pie is HUGE – not for light eaters or people who cannot take leftovers home with them. The mashed potatoes on top were immaculate – creamy, rich, just a bit buttery. The French Onion Soup was good- not the best I’ve had, but very good- and very, very cheesy. Not a great option if you’re lactose intolerant…
The Creme Brulee – wow! The petite portion was only $3, and was just a couple ounces- perfect for such a rich dessert. This was up there with the best Brulees I’ve ever had, and I consider myself somewhat of a Brulee connoisseur. The atmosphere is very Vermont-y and warm. Our waitress was friendly, ready to joke around with us and offer her opinions on the meals. For everything I just mentioned, our bill came to an awesomely cheap $47. Another great part is that this is in South Burlington, far enough away from the college campuses and the main strip that you can utterly miss all the traffic and crowds.
